Full Pitched Roof Replacement across Teesside
Strip, re-felt, re-batten, and re-tile with new leadwork and tidy verges
The Brief
A Teesside homeowner had an old pitched roof that had reached the end of its life. Tiles were slipping, the felt underneath had perished, and damp was starting to show in the loft. They wanted a full replacement that would seal the home against the weather for decades and tidy up the look of the property, carried out by a local roofer they could deal with directly.
What We Did
Our work included:
- Surveyed and quoted: We assessed the roof, talked through tile options, and provided a clear written quote with the price agreed before any work started.
- Set up scaffold and protection: Safe access went up and the areas around the home were protected before the strip began.
- Stripped and inspected: The old tiles, felt, and battens came off and the timbers underneath were checked, with anything needing attention explained before covering back up.
- Re-felt, re-batten, re-tile: New breathable membrane and treated battens were fitted, then quality tiles set out straight and even across the roof.
- Renewed leadwork and detailing: Flashings around the chimney and abutments were re-dressed, and ridges, hips, and verges were finished off properly.
- Cleaned down and handed over: Waste was cleared, the scaffold came down, and the site was left tidy, with photos of the work and advice on keeping the roof in good order.
The Result
A clean, even, weather-tight roof that should give the homeowner decades of reliable service. The damp problem is solved, the roofline looks sharp from the street, and the work was completed within the agreed timeline. The owner dealt directly with Mick from quote to completion and had clear updates throughout.
Job Duration: Most full re-roofs of this size are completed in 3 to 7 days depending on the weather.
